Brian Conley has left the camp. Declan Donnelly announced at
the beginning of the show. No more mention was made of him, as the producers
set about placing their remaining contestants in glass, insect-filled boxes
and zapping them with electric shocks for Monday’s episode.
The show’s contestants are made to undergo a series of tests to ensure they
can withstand the physical and emotional toil of living on limited food in a
jungle and subjected to tasks which can include being covered in insects and
being made to eat unpleasant animal parts. However reports suggest that,
despite being given a clean bill of health at the start, 51-year-old Conley
suffered a major collapse.
The star has spoken publicly in the past about his problems with alcoholism
and depression, prompting questions about whether he should have been
removed from the show earlier or even allowed to enter the jungle in the
first place.
On Monday Conley’s wife, Anne-Marie, and their two daughters flew out to
Australia to join him in a Brisbane hospital.
