Black Friday is the Christmas shopping
season. It falls the day after the country's Thanksgiving
celebration and now has become a discount shopping day. On Black Friday 2010 more than $45billion was spent by American
shoppers. There is also an online version, Cyber
Black Friday. Amazon, the online retaileris going to cut prices by up to 40%
on around 1,000 items until Saturday. The sale is twice as big as a similar promotion last year. Online prices are falling. According to
the Centre of Economics and Business Research (CEBR) online prices are
falling at their highest rate for five-years. Shoppers are increasingly turning to the internet to do their shopping.
Yesterday John Lewis, the department store retailer, said that online sales
rose by 31 per cent last week.
